I really wanted to freshen up my home but didn't have much spare cash. I just got stuck in to a few jobs that I knew would make a difference. It wasn't long before I realized that it's not that hard to make some really dramatic changes without a big spend. I'm not a builder, but I can tackle a few easy jobs like these just by keeping a clear head and making the effort. If I can do it, I'd say anyone can, just be confident and work within your abilities. Sometimes all it takes is to get up off the 'couch and give it a go.

You could quickly make a frock or skirt within hours and you could own a completely unique piece of clothing for a fraction of the cost of buying one in a dress shop.

Window treatments can either be bought 'off the rack' or custom designed to your specifications. Obviously, custom made is going to be a bit pricier, but these days even nice custom curtains can be very reasonable. You can shop online, go to a retail store or have someone come to your house to give an estimate.

For an instance the curtains are too small and you are changing your clothes inside, they would still expose you defeating their purpose to provide you with more privacy.

Curtains and drapes have interchangeable meanings. They can be made in varying thicknesses and differing degrees of light absorption and heat insulating qualities. A sash curtain filters the light while a drawn curtain blocks out the light. The length of the material can change the entire look. For a relaxed casual mood choose shorter lengths. Longer lengths of the material produces a more formal and dignified appearance.

When purchasing made to measure curtains there are several other factors to consider. The first is how long do you want the curtain? Sill length? Floor length? Floor to ceiling? Or perhaps you are using a cornice or a valence with your curtains. This will determine the length but keep in mind...that is your preference so be sure you know the look you are going for. Designers will buy curtains that are wider than the actual window itself to make it look more substantial in the room.
